Wednesday 23rd March 2005 - THE UNIVERSITY OF TASMANIA - Launceston

And the final leg of the tour began…Aboard the Apple Isle, sleeping in he Deluxe Shoe box aboard the Spirit of Tasmania. Dman's snoring assured no one slept, not even the tiny plankton amassing around the bow of this hulking tug boat.

We arrived, Mark and Iv headed off the pick up Mark's girlfriend, Adrianna, and Dman and Manager Ross headed for the Dockside café, where a sign out front said:

HOT BREAKFAST…SELF SERVE…NO LIMITS.

D walked in, and warned the Manager, that he would be sorry.

He piled his plate with as much as it could fit and proceeded to make the man very sorry indeed.

We climbed part of Cradle Mountain - well, Iv and Nath did, Dman passing out like a stoned bunyip overdosed on a Big Breakfast.

After a night of hitting the piss at Nathan's (our producer and great mate) folks house in nearby Latrobe (thanks to Corrie and Rick for your fantastic company and kind hospitality), we hit Irish Murphy's for opening pints at 11.30am. We entered the local University, with our heads still swimming in syrup.

But with a belly of Boags, and Iv's mouth half full of spew, they ripped a hole in the centre of the Uni cafeteria and let loose with a volcanic 90 minute set that had the crowd gagging for more.

From a disinterested cluster made up of the Fishing Club, potheads, metal heads and Princesses' the Dogyz drew to these various reps of disenfranchised subcultures to the stage, dancing the jig of Youth while they savoured the sound of the Dog

Friday 18th March 2005 - THE CAT & FIDDLE - Balmain

A return to where it all began…a crowd of about 120 people huddled to bear witness to the EP Launch of 'Arise' in their unofficial home, the Cat. Gig fit, and ready to rock, the culmination of playing constantly paid off - the Dogs fired up, the crowd went sick and the EP was birthed with the Rock Royal treatment it deserved.

Thursday 17th March 2005 - THE CITY TAVERN - Tamworth

Lurch, Deano, Mully, Sam and crew at the City tavern are like family, so going back to the Tavern was like visiting old mates and playing 3 hours for them while you get pissed enough to brave a rat sack kebab down the road. And so it was when we met up with mates, rodeo rider, Adam, real music head, Harry and the rest of the motley wasn't over just yet…

Wednesday 16th March 2005 - THE ARMIDALE CLUB - Armidale

We arrived to The Armidale Club and it didn't look like a club, it looked like a house. An old house, where old men swap old stamps while rubbing their old cocks. Dman wasn't happy. He thought the Armidale sector of the KKK were waiting out the back for he and Ronnie. " This is a bad joke."

We walked in and 3 old fella's were drinking at a bar and room that looked more and more like a club, a chess club. One bloke was on a ladder in what looked like the main room, blacking out the windows which overlooked the bowling club. It was like we were playing in the twilight zone where your dead relo's would be coming to see you play that night. After a wonderful curry dinner put on by the club at Chilli's the boys moved to the stage and to their surprise, a solid number of punters had mosied into the club.

During the gig, those punters moved to the dance floor and danced a dance that theyre still talking about in Armidale now. It was a magical night as the fortunate few, joined forces in a marriage of performance and spectatorship.

Thankyou to the wonderful people at The Armidale Club.

Sunday 13th March 2005 - HOEY MOEY - Coffs Harbour

There is the cold nervous sweat that gathers at the small of your neck when you walk into a venue and all seems wrong. It was this sensation that greeted the band when they walked into the Hoey Moey. In what looked like the eating area of a High School canteen, truckers, bikies & locals ordered their Schnitzels as the Knights took on the Warriors. We sat down and ordered our own counter lunch - wishing Rusty Crowe would come in and start a blue, so we could escape.

We were down to play from 2pm to 6pm. 4 hours. Shithouse. No one plays for that long.

It didn't look good. We needed a miracle. Ivan asked for one and one soon arrived.

The manager had double booked. A resident local band was down to play for two hours, bring their local friends and allow us to leave before 6pm. We sold shitloads of CD's and shirts and the gig was well received by the people of Coffs who gave us a warm send off as we left the pub.

Long live the Hoey Moey. We were saved by the Gig Gods that can smile on you, maybe when it thinks you have chocked up enough kilometres on the Rock-ometer

Saturday 12th March 2005 - PACIFIC HOTEL - Yamba

The first date on our ARISE EP Launch tour!
Yamba - we thought it was 6 hours away. Try 9 hours. Fantastic.
Grumpily the boys unpacked the box trailer, into the unknown waters of the North Coast.
As Dman hoisted the guitars through the door of the main bar, he heard someone yell "Hey Fuzzy Wuzzy!". Turning he saw a council worker beckon for him, obviously drunk. He approached and a fight nearly broke out when he attempted to touch D's impressive afro. D took offense to the man's filthy hands, but all was sorted when the gent kindly offered D all the smoke he could handle later that night.

The hotel boasted the best view we have ever seen, seemingly perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking a beach straight out of Home and Away.

3 hours on stage is a long time, especially for this band but their present environment coaxed a proficient, tight set before an enthusiastic crowd of locals who appreciated the original stuff. We hope to return to this aesthetically impressive little haven.

Saturday 26th February 2005 - ONE WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL - One World Live Darling Harbour

You know, sometimes the boys get invited to play some strange gigs. This one was strange indeed. The day was dubbed World Music Day, with 30 bands playing on two stages at the Home of Boof, woof and anti-poof, One World Sport, Darling Harbour. The band was given 30 tickets and told to sell them for $20 each. Strange.

One World Sport is not a place the boys have stepped foot in, nor would frequent, and yet here they were in front of 10 people at 2pm on the perhaps the biggest stage they have ever played on. It was shite.

Friday 18th February 2005 - THE OXFORD TAVERN - Wollongong

As young westies, growing up in Btown, the boys would often traverse the various backroads with the pyschadelic tunes of Tumbleweed blowing smoke rings through their sub woofer. And it was with great humility they accepted a date with Tumbleweed ex-lead singer, Richie and his lateste band, the Creeps.

The Dogs ripped shit up again on the Wollongong stage, home of their brothers of rock, Rockafella.

Thursday 13th January 2005 - THE ANNANDALE HOTEL - Annandale

On the side of the main room of the Annandale, there is a side room. It's a small room, the sort of room Lephrechauns shoot porn in.
And it was here that the Dog boyz found themselves on a rainy Thursday night, before an audience of about 20. Intimate, tight and quick to the punch. Like sex with a gnome.
